Dean Bee, Chairman of Manchester Village Spartans RUFC based in Sale, Manchester, was recently awarded a Mitsubishi Motors Volunteer of the Year Regional Awards for his volunteer rugby work and dedication to the game.
Having won the Cheshire RFU region title, he travelled down to Twickenham on the 7th September for the National Final.
The awards are part of the Mitsubishi Motors Volunteer Recognition Programme which provides grassroots rugby clubs and the rugby community with opportunities to recognise and reward the volunteers who make up such an integral part of the game.
Dean was nominated for his work with the RFU, Spirit of Rugby and International Gay Rugby in driving recruitment into gay and inclusive rugby across England – leading to the creation of three new clubs and a total of 290 full, paying members.
The local event was held at Gallaghers of Warrington on Thursday 14th June.
As well as the Mitsubishi Motors Volunteer of the Year Awards, the programme offers a number of opportunities to say thank you to the thousands of volunteers who give back to grassroots rugby, week in, week out.
